What’s the Best Kindle of 2026 (So Far)?

Amazon recently announced a whole new generation of Kindles is coming, with every model getting a new version. I'll update this guide with thoughts as I review each new model. Here are the current details:

Kindle (2026, 12th Generation) for $150: This is the new version of the base Kindle. Many features will sound familiar (a 6-inch screen, six weeks of battery life, and 16 GB of storage), but it comes with a new flush-front design for the screen and a lighter weight. It also shares a $150 price tag with the older base Kindle, which became more expensive as of August. You can upgrade to the Aluminum version that has a more premium feel and additional color options, plus 32 GB of storage.
